The Melbourne University Japanese Club (MUJC) is aimed towards those who have an interest in Japan. Whether you are learning Japanese, are in love with Japanese culture and society, are part of the Japanese community, or just want to make some new friends, then you will have lots of fun as an MUJC member.

The MUJC holds a wide range of social and cultural events/activities throughout the year – our main objectives are for members to have fun, socialise and learn about Japan (without spending too much). Our events are relaxed, friendly, and a great way to meet new people. For example, our ‘Kaiwa’ (conversation) sessions are held weekly on campus. Come along and see what we’re all about – Japanese snacks are on us.
Other activities that we have lined up include manga drawing workshops, movie nights, origami sessions, and a yakisoba stall on South Lawn. We will also be present at the Festival of Nations and other cultural events throughout the year.
For those that can’t resist authentic Japanese food and sake, come to our semesterly ‘Nomikai’ dinner gathering at Japanese restaurant Izakaya Chuji in the CBD. Keep your ears open for ticket sales – there are only limited places and you wouldn’t want to miss this great night out.
The MUJC also provides information about other events and opportunities occurring in Melbourne that are related to Japan, and assists with connecting Japanese exchange students to the university community.
