Postgraduate Environment Network

The Postgraduate Environment Network (PEN) is THE community for OEP students. We facilitate networking, career pathways and run heaps of events every semester! Membership and almost all events free.

The Postgraduate Environment Network (PEN) is the student body representing the Office for Environmental Programs (OEP) at University.

With over 200 members and growing -  you'll find our committee in the halls of the Walter Boas building repping PEN merch most days :)

Every semester we'll keep you busy - with events both academic and non, ranging from career and internship panels and research nights, through to movie screenings, UMSU enviro collabs, beach cleanups, nature walks and our annual PEN camp.  Membership remains free to join and all events are subsidised so are either free or very low cost.

Although PEN’s core membership is made up of OEP students and alumni, anyone with an interest in environmental issues is welcome to participate. PEN was established by a group of students back in 2006, and we collaborate with the OEP closely, in building a safe, inclusive community at our study and social space on Level 1 of the Walter Boas Building.  Come pay us a visit!

Club Aims:

  1. To promote environmental activities hosted by the university and other organisations.
  2. To provide an open forum where students can discuss environmental issues.
  3. To provide students with the opportunity to network with professionals in the environment and sustainability sector.
  4. To host social and volunteer events which have sustainability as the objective
  5. To support Master of Environments students and Faculty by providing social and professional events.
  6. To outreach between undergraduates and potential graduate candidates to promote the Masters degree.
  7. To advance the study and application of environmental science and sustainability to postgraduate students.
