Very Special Kids Society

Perfect for those with a passion for performing social justice for local families, and a desire for meeting similarly wonderful people!

Very Special Kids Society spreads the work and joy of Very Special Kids, a children’s charity that helps approximately 850 families across Victoria who have a child in a life-threatening condition, with ongoing support from diagnosis all the way through to recovery or bereavement. They are the only children's hospice in Victoria.

Our society’s close-knit and driven membership works as a family, contributing to both the charity’s established events as well as our own fundraising initiatives.

Club Aims:

1. To spread the message and circulate the stories of Very Special Kids, increasing the impact of their valuable work
2. To engage exuberant students in the donation drives and progress of Very Special Kids.
3. To provide a platform for like-minded students to mingle in their passion for supporting Victorian families going through the most difficult time in their lives.
4. To connect students with an opportunity to practically care for those in Very Special Kids hospice or family houses.
5. To strengthen the already existing link between the university and charity (volunteers at unimelb, unimelb is helping design Very Special Kids’ hospice redevelopment).
6. To present students with the chance to immerse themselves in social justice on a more local, community-based forum.
