Golf Appreciation Society

Unimelb GAS(Golf Appreciation Society) provides a no-barrier entry to people of all backgrounds to get involved in the world of golf. The sport has started to break out of stereotypes about only being for the select few; we endeavour to affect this change onto campus. From tournament watch parties, to dropping merch you won’t want to take off, we give students the opportunity to experience the sport without needing to be on the course. We believe in supporting students to unlock career development opportunities, a good CV, new challenges to explore, and unique ways to experience their friendships, through golf.

Club Aims:

• To highlight the inherently social nature of golf and share with a new community it’s unique power to bring people of all walks of life together.
• To promote the sport of golf and grow the game to a wider community via events such as tournament watch-parties. With more participants in golf, the club can scale to give students more opportunities categorised under its other aims.
• To produce opportunities for educational outreach about the sport itself and the importance of a health lifestyle/work-life balance to students.
• To empower students with more networking opportunities for career development via events, including social mixers with other organisations, such as other university societies and external golf clubs.
• To facilitate the only opportunities on campus to have low-to-no cost ways to get involved in the world of golf, making it accessible to the widest audience possible; this also helps increase diversity, equity and inclusion in the sport.
