Effective Altruism
We are very excited and fortunate to announce that the one and only Peter Singer will deliver a talk at the University of Melbourne!
Peter Singer's ideas inspired the foundation of the worldwide Effective Altruism (EA) and has been involved since its beginnings in 2009. In this talk Singer will give his perspective on the movement's achievements, as well as what, with the benefit of hindsight, we can now see to have been its mistakes. Singer will assess its continuing strengths, in the face of common objections, and describe how he sees its future prospects.
This event is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about Singer’s ethics and EA from one of the world's most celebrated living philosophers and Melbourne University Alumnus.
Doors open at 6:30PM on Tuesday the 11th of March at the Kathleen Fitzpatrick Theater, University of Melbourne, Parkville campus.
Q&A and a book signing will follow.
No registration or tickets are required, but early arrival is requested! Wheelchair accessible.
