We have mummy issues, Film Society and MUCLASS: this Friday arvo we’re partnering (and digging) up to watch Stephen Sommers' 1999 American action-adventure film, The Mummy!

In the film, treasure hunting adventurer Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) and aspiring Egyptologist and librarian Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz), with the latter’s clumsy brother Jonathan (John Hannah) in tow, inadvertently wake up a bedevilled mummy, Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), Pharaoh Seti I's high priest, during a dig at the ancient city of Hamunaptra, aka the City of the Dead.

This Sommers summer blockbuster resurrected the titular Universal Monster after decades in hibernation, spawning a new franchise in the process. Don’t end up on the wrong side of the river; come along!

After the movie, we'll head to the pub for discussion and drinks. 🍻
