Week 2 Screening - The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! (2012) w/ Pirates

This week, in collaboration with Pirates, we're screening Aardman's The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!

Lead by their captain in a fierce competition with his rivals, a group of rather amateurish pirates attempt to claim the coveted Pirate of the Year Award, awarded to who can steal the most treasure. Bumbling through raids, the crew eventually attempt a scheme involving a captured Charles Darwin and the crew's unusual bird.
Initially an entirely CGI production under Sony before Aardman Features, most well known for Wallace & Gromit, was brought on to co-produce and animate in their typical stop-motion style, supplemented with CGI elements. The Pirates! was nominated for several awards, including an Academy Award for best animated feature,
