Peter Hall Building G14

How many ways are there to colour the squares of a 2020x2020 grid of unit squares black or white such that there do not exist three consecutive squares (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) that have the same colour?
Did that grab your attention? If so, be sure to check out our Competition Maths Catchup!
Come down to Peter Hall G14 on Wednesday 31st August at 5:30 pm, and enjoy some free cookies and muffins under the guise of solving competition problems together. You may just learn a trick or two.
Whether you’re vaguely curious or a seasoned brainteaser veteran, come down and enjoy this problem-solving evening with us!

The Simon Marais competition is around the corner ( < 2 months' time), so we've collected some really nice problems for you all to chew on together. In particular, some of the problems provided will be beginner-friendly problems, like the one above! If this is your first time trying competition math, then this is the time to come!
In contrast with past sessions, experienced SMMC contestant Quang will be there to provide coaching and guidance.

We will run this every even week on Wednesday, at the same time and location.
