Over the course of 4 weeks students will explore various ways of connecting with the mind-and-body. Through dance, movement, and somatic exercises students will be guided through fun and enjoyable activities which are geared toward supporting physical, mental, and social wellbeing.
Dance has many health-promoting elements: come and learn more about how your mind and body connect and discover some useful take-away skills and tips to help improve your general wellbeing.
This is a four-part workshop series. You can attend any or all workshops!
Workshop 1: Physical wellbeing & dance - 24th of April (Monday)
- Stress: the mind-body response
- Shifting the physical body toward comfort: how we can leverage dance and movement to support our nervous system in times of stress
- Creative ways of caring for the physical body to help alleviate stress and enrich our everyday life
Workshop 2: Mental wellbeing & dance - 1st of May (Monday)
- Explore the ‘miracle’ question: how we can use dance, imagery, and creative play to overcome obstacles and shift our mindset
- Explore how our thoughts create our reality, and explore how we can shift our thoughts and mental reality through dance and creativity
- Discover how dance can be used to support overall mental health
Workshop 3: Social wellbeing & dance - 8th of May (Monday)
- What are mirror neurons? The important role social relationships in nervous system health
- Playing with ‘mirroring’ and group work: the importance of being seen as we are 😊
- Connecting with others in creative ways: experience the potential of play and movement to bring us together
Workshop 4: Holistic wellbeing & creativity through dance - 15th of May (Monday)
- Exploring the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and social wellbeing through dance.
- Exploring the role of creativity in supporting overall wellbeing
- Consolidating ‘take-home’ skills and DIY tips for nervous system health
