NOTICE OF ELECTION  

In accordance with the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) Constitution and UMSU International Election Regulations, at 9:00 am on Monday 17 April 2023 nominations will open for the following positions:  

 

POSITIONS TO BE ELECTED:  

Executive Committee  

• One (1) UMSU International President  

• One (1) UMSU International Vice-President (Education and Welfare) 

• One (1) UMSU International Vice-President (Cultural and Social) 

• One (1) UMSU International Vice-President (Media and Marketing)

• One (1) UMSU International Secretary  

• One (1) UMSU International Treasurer  

Directors  

• One (1) UMSU International Education Director  

• One (1) UMSU International Welfare Director  

• One (1) UMSU International Graduate Director  

• One (1) UMSU International Cultural and Social Director  

• One (1) UMSU International Media and Marketing Director  

• One (1) UMSU International Human Resource Director  

• One (1) UMSU International Partnership and Sponsorship Director   

• Three (3) UMSU International Education Officers  

• Three (3) UMSU International Welfare Officers  

• One (1) UMSU International Graduate Officer  

• Six (6) UMSU International Cultural and Social Officers

Nominations close 5:00pm on Tuesday May 2 2023.  

A provisional notice will be issued on April 28 indicating which positions, if any, are uncontested or only have one nomination. 

 

ELIGIBILITY TO STAND  

New Zealand citizens and Non-International Students who hold Australian Permanent Residency may also stand for any position except Executive positions. Australian Citizens may stand for Officer positions only.  

Only Graduate Students may stand and vote for the positions of Graduate Director and  Graduate Officer.  

Any students who are not able to complete their full term as a Central member within the  duration of their course are not eligible to run in any UMSU International Annual General Election.  

 

RECEIPT OF NOMINATIONS  

You may nominate using the nomination form. If you require further information on how to nominate, please contact the returning officer or visit the election webpage.

 

WITHDRAWAL OF NOMINATIONS  

A candidate may withdraw their nomination at any time. The form for withdrawal of nominations is available here. 

 

ELECTION REGULATIONS  

Election regulations for the UMSU International Annual General Election can be found on the UMSU International Annual General Election webpage.  

 

CANDIDATE INFORMATION SESSION  

The information session for candidates will take place from 12:00-2:00pm Friday April 28 and will be conducted via zoom. The Zoom link for this session is: https://aqe.com.au/umsuintl_candidatesession 

 

POLICY SPEECH SESSION  

The policy speech session will occur after the close of nominations. This will take place on Thursday 11 May, between 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm. The zoom link for this session is: https://aqe.com.au/umsuintl_policysession 

 

VOTING SESSION  

Voting will open 9:00 am on Monday 15th May 2023 and close 5:00 pm on Friday 19 May 2023. Voting will be conducted via the BigPulse platform, with an individual voting link sent to all eligible voters via their student email at the beginning of the voting session. Results will be declared the week after the voting session.  

Whilst voting is online for this election, students will also be able to ask questions of election staff and cast their vote on devices provided in person next to the UMSU International Offices in Building 168 between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the voting session.
