Important Updates
1. Building Aboriginal Cultural Competency Workshop — RSVPs open!

The Koorie Heritage Trust are a not-for-profit whose purpose it is to "promote, support and celebrate the continuing journey of the Aboriginal people of South Eastern Australia."
UMSU has organised for the Trust to run three sessions of their Building Aboriginal Cultural Competency For Organisations Workshop.

The learning outcomes of our workshops are to:
  • Develop awareness of Aboriginal culture and identity
  • Develop awareness of the strengths of Aboriginal culture and people
  • Assist in making the connection and understanding the impact of colonisation and past policy for Aboriginal people today
  • Develop capacity to be more understanding and responsive to Aboriginal colleagues and clients
  • Motivate participants in their cultural competence journey

The Workshop will take place in-person in late-October at Federation Square, and it is a full day workshop. The cost is covered by UMSU. Each session can have a maximum of 25 people, and as such you are asked to select preferred sessions, after which you will be allocated to one of the sessions. All permanent staff members are expected to attend.

Please enter your information and select times via this link. After the close of RSVPs, you will receive an invite to one of the three sessions. Look forward to seeing you there!

RSVPs close at 9am Monday 15 August.

3. Friday 12 August — WinterFest Staff Survey

Well, we did it! Another WinterFest done and dusted. Now it's time to review what worked and what didn't. We need your feedback so that we can ensure that the events we provide meet our outcomes and goals in the future.  Part of providing services and events is reflecting and reviewing the processes and delivery of our work. This feedback is important as it provides the basis for developing future programs that not only impact UMSU but all students.

The staff survey closes on Friday 12 August. Please provide your feedback here.
