Important Updates
1. WinterFest Stats are up — The best insights from students about what they loved and did NOT love!

The WinterFest 2022 Comms Stats Report is now available here. How did students engage with WinterFest? What do they want to see more of, less of? This report is a goldmine of information that can help with future planning of your department's activities!

2. Furnishing your new spaces — Updates!

Last Friday at Council 17(22), Councillors moved to pass the amount of money reallocated from student departments into the Whole of Union Fund for the purchase of furniture and other refurbishment in Building 168 and other UMSU spaces as required.

We are now in the stages of sourcing ethical suppliers and establishing the best process for ordering and setting up these refurbs and furnishings . We understand that people are anxious to get furniture in their offices and make their spaces feel like home. Please have patience, as this will be a complex process so we want to get it right!

Ciara and Tim will be in touch as soon as the procesess are finalised and ordering can commence. Until then, keep building those wishlists! In the meantime, we can also look forward to more furniture provided by the project arriving mid-November – these will be Billiani lounges, chairs, and couches for the student study and safe spaces

3. Don't forget your Safe Food Handling obligations — Safe food practices are essential

Student wellbeing is UMSU's top priority. Please ensure that if you are serving food at your event, that Safe Food Handling practices are observed, with things like allergen declarations, food storage requirements and hygiene measures. The essentials are available HERE.

6. Reminder  — Update your web pages

For those Departments that have moved to 168, please review your web pages this week to make sure you have your new contact details updated. Further to that, it's important to keep ALL info updated on your webpages throughout the year. If students come to look for info and find dusty cobwebs, they tend not to come back, so make sure your pages are fresh and well tended.

7. LinkedIn— Growth Mindset training

Available to all staff, LinkedIn learning uses a self-paced learning environment. Activate your free LinkedIn Learning license here. You will need to go through some steps to add to your LinkedIn profile. Once activated you can access the micro-learning on 'growth mindset' by University of Melbourne or find something that interests you and direct your own learning.

8. New Staff — Welcome Lachie

Lachie James (He/Him) is the new Volunteering Manager and will be starting on Thursday.
