It’s week three and you have settled in to the monotony of lectures and study. The campus has lost the spark you first felt when you arrived and you find yourself going straight home after classes. Your one regret is that you cannot go back in time to the O Week Clubs Expo. You have seen so many wondrous events taking place since then; you just don’t know how to get involved yourself. Take heart, Clubs Carnival 2016 will soon be upon us! Last year’s extravaganza was an afternoon of festivity, hilarity and new students getting another opportunity to see what university has to offer outside of the classroom. It is our goal to make this Clubs Carnival bigger and better than ever! On Thursday 7 April between 11am-2pm, South Lawn will once again be transformed from a sea of grass and good times into a myriad of stalls offering a range of foods, workshops and whatever it is that those clubs do best. There will be popcorn, nutritional snags and veggie burgers and maybe even some inflatable structures. For those of you, who have not heard about the clubs on offer at the university don’t fret. UMSU has 210 affiliated clubs to choose from. These include: course related, food and beverage, games and sports, culture & language, spiritual, community service, political and activist, music and dance and many more covering an incredible range of special interests. We guarantee that there is a club for you!
Keep an eye out for Gunter’s Choice. This campaign will allow your club to be broadcasted through all of our available mediums, those being C&S Instagram and Facebook page, the UMSU E-Newsletter, Union House LEDs and more! If your club wants their event promoted, please send a short blurb, club contact details and photo to cluboftheweek@gmail.com
