Sometimes I delude myself

into thinking.

I can smell the sea,

the cliffsides of it

covered in bird shit and crustaceans;

horribly salty,

decaying seaweed.

Standing on the train tracks

looking over metal and stone

I’m sure. I smell it.

It's just over the rise—

There!

Can't I see it?
