Bells and Whistles was exhibition of postgraduate work from Masters and PhD students at the Victorian College of the Arts, presented at the George Paton Gallery from 17 November 2025 to 30 January 2026. Featuring Jincheng Deng, Tom Denize, Majed Fayad, Briony Galligan, and Jen Valender, the exhibition gathered together artists whose practices span installation, moving image, sculpture, performance, and sound. These projects are seen to reflect the multiplicity of contemporary artistic research and the varied concerns and conditions that shape it.

This publication of the same name features responses to the exhibition drawn from emerging student artists, researchers and writers. Yue Guo, Sophia Lark, Giulia Lallo, Olivia McRae and Sunday O’Sullivan each respond to a practice contained within the original Bells and Whistles exhibition.
