🎬 UMFC Pitch Night – Our Biggest Event of the Semester! 🎬

Got a film idea? This is your chance to make it come alive! Pitch your project, find collaborators, and bring your vision to the screen. Whether it’s a short film, documentary, or experimental piece, we want to hear it! 🌟 Even if you don't have a pitch, this is a welcoming environment for you to dip your toes in the sea of filmmaking by simply joining a film project!

WHY PITCH? 🏆

Winning pitches receive:

  • Prioritised access to gear & equipment
  • Promotion by UMFC to boost your project
  • Potential free submission to a film festival
  •  Exclusive screening events to showcase your film. 🍕  Plus, we’ve got snacks and free pizzas to keep the creativity flowing!

PITCH SUBMISSION LINK

Submit your pitch here.

We will still be accepting spontaneous pitches made on the day; filling out this form simply secures your position and allows us to be more prepared to help the night run smoothly. We highly recommend filling out this form if you plan to pitch - it means we have a synopsis and title pre-filled and ready to go, and our audience will be more likely to remember the contents of your pitch at the voting stage.

About Pitch Night

Pitch Night is basically our flagship event! The entire concept of the club is founded upon giving you the opportunity, a safe supportive space, to make your filmmaking ideas or interests come to life.

If you have a film idea, pitch it to an audience of fellow filmmaking enthusiasts! If you don't have an idea, feel free to listen in on the pitches and simply put your hand up to help out any of the films whose pitches you loved. The best way to learn and experience the magic of filmmaking is actually being on set.

Pitching is an absolutely crucial skill in the filmmaking world. It is imperative that a filmmaker is able to sell their vision to a producer effectively in order to get their film funded, and at UMFC we allow you to practice this skill in a low-pressure friendly environment. Note this is a sales pitch (an advertisement, if you will), so simply reciting your story from top to bottom will not cut it. In fact, it's even discouraged in some cases!

In the past we have had some really interesting short film ideas that failed to capture the audience's attention since the pitch was unfortunately too long, or not attractive enough. We hope that those of you who came to our previous event now have a better idea of how to make an effective pitch!

Also, did we mention free pizzas and snacks??

Excited to hear your pitches!!!
