Onam is a vibrant and ancient harvest festival celebrated predominantly in the Indian state of Kerala. It marks the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali and showcases Kerala's rich cultural heritage. The festival's highlight is the grand feast known as "Onam Sadya," a sumptuous meal served on banana leaves, featuring an array of vegetarian dishes. People also create intricate floral designs called "Pookkalam" at their doorsteps to welcome King Mahabali and participate in traditional games, and dance forms like Thiruvathira. Onam embodies joy, unity, and the spirit of togetherness, bringing families and communities together in celebration.
