We are planning an excursion to the iconic 1000 Steps walk in the Dandenong Ranges.
Please register your attendance via the link below. (Capacity: 30 people)
Date: Saturday, 23 May
Meeting options:
• 8:40 am at Platform 3, Flinders Street Station
(for those commuting together). Please note that the train departs at 8:55 am sharp, and we will unfortunately not be able to wait for late arrivals. We will get off at Upper Ferntree Gully Station.
OR
• 10:00 am at Upper Ferntree Gully Station Car Park
(if you prefer to meet directly at the starting point of the track).
What to bring
Essential:
· Lunch
· Water
· Suitable walking shoes or hiking boots
· Rain jacket and/or poncho
· Sunscreen
· Warm clothing
· Student ID or photo ID
· Any personal essentials
· A positive hiking mindset (teamwork, laughter, and good spirit!)
Optional but recommended:
· Trekking poles
Walk duration: Approximately 3 hours
Please note that attendance at our recent seminar on hiking gear is not required to join this excursion; however, participants are encouraged to come well prepared.
UMIS will provide coffee of your choice, but participants are expected to bring their own lunch.
Also note that the walk includes steep ascents and descents. For this reason, it may not be suitable for participants with a prior knee injury or any condition that could be aggravated by steep or uneven terrain.

· Members: $2
· Non-members: $8
Guests are welcome when accompanied by a member host. Members wishing to bring a guest should contact us for further instructions regarding guest registration (maximum one guest per member).
