UMSU is devastated by the horrific and senseless shooting at Bondi Beach yesterday, where Jewish families and communities gathered to celebrate the first night of Chanukah.

Our thoughts and hearts are with the communities impacted in Sydney as well as the wider Jewish community here in Victoria. We express our sincere condolences to the families of all those who have lost their lives.

Violence and hatred have no place in our society. No one should have to live in fear because of who they are, their faith, or their community. At times like this, it is vital we stand together and support one another.

UMSU remains committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all our Jewish students and community here at the University of Melbourne.

If you need further support, here's a list of support resources, including pastoral and spiritual care.

Stay connected and reach out.

With a heavy heart,
Lushy

UMSU President
