HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Union House Theatre (UHT) runs an epic co-curricular student theatre and performance program at the University of Melbourne. We have five staff members and two incredible performance venues in Union House. We provide support to student performers, playwrights, technicians, designers, directors and producers. UHT program performances, masterclasses and events.
Student Theatre Groups
Student theatre groups are exactly what they sound like: groups of students who produce and perform their own shows. Performance types include theatre, musicals, dance etc. – we welcome ALL types of performance! We have around 25 affiliated student theatre groups. You can find one you’d like to join here or you can start your own.
Find Out What’s Going On
The best way to get involved is to be proactive and find out what is happening in the theatre program that you are interested in. Auditions and production crew callouts are listed in our enews. You can also try contacting the students running a production directly and ask if you can join in.
There are many different ways to keep up to date with the theatre opportunities on campus:
1. Come into the theatre office (level 1, Union House) and say hello!
2. Sign up to our weekly enews ‘Followspot’
3. Browse the productions and workshops listed in the program
4. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram
Everyone is Welcome!
Whether you are a first year, second year or doing your PhD – don’t be shy!
There is no joining fee to be a part of Union House Theatre.
There are occasionally minimal costs for our workshops but participation is voluntary.
Some of our student theatre groups may require you to pay a small joining fee but that is up to the individual group.
