CONGRATULATIONS — you’ve just joined the best thing that’s going to happen to you at uni this year!
University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) is your student union – an organisation run by students, for students.
We campaign for the rights of students
We represent your opinion to the University
We have a free legal and advocacy service
We hold online and on campus events to meet like-minded people
We’re here to make sure that you get the most out of your time at university
With UMSU, you can immerse yourself in a wealth of cultural facilities and events whilst having access to quality support services. We make sure that students have advocacy and representation on campus. It’s all about the battle to keep student voices in the big picture whilst making your time at uni fun and enjoyable!
All students automatically have access to all Student Union services including:
Support services to help you when you need it — Find out more.
Representation on the issues that affect you — Find out more.
A community of other like-minded students — Find out more.
Art, culture and fun — Find out more.
Head to the UMSU website to view the Events Calendar or check out our Facebook page and have a browse. It's a great way to connect with like-minded people and get support within your student community while we're all getting used to this 'new normal' thing.
Stay Connected, Get Social
Follow UMSU on Facebook and Instagram to be the first ones to know about events, activities and news that matters to you on campus. We're currently providing regular updates for students on our campaigns against the University to reduce the burdens being felt through the COVID-19 situation, along with support resources you can access through UMSU (@UMSUunimelb).
UMSU has a new home in the Student Precinct! Across neighbouring buildings in the Precinct, you'll find most of UMSU's services in Building 168, our Arts & Cultural programs in, you guessed it, the Arts & Cultural Building and other UMSU favourites like the study-free Rowden White Library in the Student Pavilion.
UMSU's migration from the old Union House to the new digs is almost complete! While some faves will stay behind at Union House for the rest of the year (Union Mart and Ida Bar), most services can now be found at Building 168! Stay tuned for updates or read more HERE.
*Info Desk will run at both Building 168 and Union House for a while longer.
Access Our Student Guide
You can find a digital copy on our website home page (our home page IS the Student Guide!). It contains all the info on everything available to you at UMSU, how to get involved, and where to find it all in Union House. So, what are you waiting for? Come and explore UMSU for yourself! Read it here.
