Pres News—Special Consideration due to war on Iran

president

The University has advised UMSU that all Iranian citizens will be automatically eligible for special consideration for current coursework if they apply during this assessment period, due to the current conflict. This includes research higher degree students completing coursework, just for their current coursework component. You will need to provide a copy of your passport to demonstrate eligibility.

Additionally, students who have significant ties to Iran, but are not Iranian citizens, may also be eligible for special consideration for current coursework, for example those with family or other close relationships in Iran. Further, any other students from, or with significant ties to, other communities impacted by the conflict, including students from Palestine and Israel, can apply for special consideration. If you believe the application has been rejected unreasonably, you can contact UMSU Advocacy.

UMSU recognises that these issues occurring on the global scale are having significantly detrimental effects to members of our community. If there is something I, as your Union President, can do to support you, please do not hesitate to reach out.

UMSU President
