If you've experienced external tutoring services, we'd like to know! Tell us more here.

Just be careful. Scammers post links offering help online and on campus. Their tutoring services might be a front for contract cheating services (also known as assessment outsourcing). Contract cheating is considered serious academic misconduct which, if found by the University, can lead to termination of your enrolment.

Even just clicking on a link or a QR code can lead to being scammed by these so-called services.

If you’re going to hire an editor, make sure they’re reputable. The best way to know for sure is to check if they’re registered with the Institute of Professional Editors Limited (IPEd).

But you don’t need to hire an editor for help! You can also ask for help at Academic Skills.

Finally, make sure you follow the rules of academic integrity.

You need to create your own ideas when you’re trying to show your understanding of the subject material or of the sources you’re using.

If you’re in doubt, ask your subject coordinator or have a look at the University’s advice on this online
