Special requirements for candidates
All candidates for University Council must:
- complete a Victorian statutory declaration to make a declaration to the effect that they:
- are enrolled in an award course at the University of Melbourne;
- understand that they must remain so during their term as a member, otherwise the membership ceases; and
- have at least 12 months of expected enrolment from the date of the election to complete the relevant award.
- complete a declaration that they are a fit and proper person in accordance with the standards set by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency
These documents should be emailed to the Returning Officer at returningofficer@union.unimelb.edu.au by the nomination deadline. We will pass them on to the University Secretary.
Note: the Info Desk offers a Justice of the Peace (JP) service for witnessing statutory declarations. You don’t need to use the UMSU JP.
