Ideas Guidance

Before appearing on the platform, ideas must conform to the listed guidelines. An UMSU staff member will review ideas in accordance with these guidelines to grant approval.

Your ideas must meet the following:

  • The submitter must be a registered student at the University of Melbourne.
  • The idea must adhere to UMSU's Privacy Policy and Social Media Policy.
  • The idea must be submitted in good faith and be clearly expressed.
  • The idea must be at least 30 - 50 words in length

Things to consider:

  • What’s the idea?
  • Is your idea relevant for students?
  • What kind of impact will it have on you, on your fellow students.

Example of an approved idea:

Approved because..

It's evident that the submission was made with good intentions and stems from a genuine concern for students. The author has thoroughly presented the idea, highlighting its relevance to students and the positive impact it can have. Additionally, it's worth noting that the submission aligns with UMSU's Privacy Policy and doesn't violate any terms.

Example of an idea that would not be approved:

Not Approved because...

One of the primary reasons for this is that the idea appears to have been submitted without good faith, and the issue presented is not a genuine one. As a result, it reflects poorly on the submitter. Additionally, the idea does not appear to be relevant for students and falls short of meeting the minimum word count requirement of 30 words.
