Arts Lab

The Arts Lab is an open-access art studio for creative activity located on Level 1, Arts and Cultural Building, Monash Road, Building 159 (MAP), next to the George Paton Gallery. 

The Arts Lab is equipped with large movable work tables, artists’ easels and art materials and can be booked for arts related activities by current students and staff of the University of Melbourne.

It's an ideal space for individuals and groups to get together to embark on a creative project, whether it be banner making, poster painting, theatre set design, craft or drawing. 

The Arts Lab Terms and Conditions provide more context for the scope of activities and responsibilities, and must be agreed to before booking a session. To make a booking, please fill out the ARTS LAB BOOKING FORM HERE!

Please note: we respond to booking requests from Monday to Thursday. Please intend to leave 48 hours between your booking request and your event. 

Additional Details:

  • The Lab can host up to 20 students
  • You can book the Lab for a maximum of four hours per day (an extension is possible on the day if the Lab isn't allocated to another group)
  • You can book the Lab for a maximum of twelve hours per week
  • There are four individual desk spaces that can be booked at any one time, you can request all or part of it, whatever you need!
  • The Arts Lab is available between 9am and 5pm (however, out of hours access can be considered on a case by case basis, please get in touch)
