ABOUT THE ROLE

This brand-new volunteer team will be crucial in maintaining the backend operations of Union Mart. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn how we source all our food donations and gain real operational insight.

You'll also get to learn some skills and make new friends whilst being a part of our wonderful team!

As an operations volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in helping the service run smoothly, including:

  • Collecting food donations from Foodbank, ALDI etc.
  • Loading and unloading of deliveries
  • Repackaging food donations
  • Waste management
  • Stocking Union Mart shelves

We also have a role for volunteers who have confidence or the willingness to drive a Goget Van. It is a Goget requirement to have 12 months of prior solo driving experience.

Lucas, our Food Support Coordinator, will train and supervise you. The main task is driving to Foodbank and loading up a pallet of pantry, dairy and meat products. It is a big game of Tetris! After Foodbank, we call 2 ALDI stores to ask if they have any donations. If they do, we go and pick up donations on the way back to campus.

We could not function without the fantastic support and dedication of our volunteers.

We are looking forward to having you on the team! 😎
