Get Involved

Want to get involved with the Activities family? You’re in luck, not only do we have at least one event every single week, but we’re always happy to have people join in and help. Whether it’s cooking the perfect sausage, handing someone a beer, helping set up our rambunctious trivia nights, or any other event. Not only is it easy to do, but it’s also not much effort and you’ll be surrounded by a great bunch of people and quality banter.

Volunteering Opportunities:

Join the Activities Collective:

We have a Facebook page where we post all of the volunteering opportunities we have, usually a few weeks before the events. This is the best place to get all the updates, join by filling out this form.

BBQs:

Get to the BBQ at any time after 12, and there’s probably something to do. Just tell anyone there in the BBQ area that you want to help out, and ask them to give you a job to do. If they’re not sure, they will know who you can ask.

Trivia:

Speak to the Activities officers, or send an email to the department (activities@union.unimelb.edu.au) and let them know that you want to help out. They’ll let you know when things need doing.

Other Events:

Events like SoUP, Cocktail Parties, Oktoberfest and other such events generally have different jobs that need doing on the night, or beforehand to make sure the event runs smoothly. We hire staff/leave to the venue the most important ones, but if you’re willing to help out for a little bit, send an email to the email address above, and we’ll let you know if there’s anything that needs doing.

Other Questions:

If you have anything that hasn’t been answered or want to know a bit more about activities, just send a message to our email (activities@union.unimelb.edu.au), and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Please be aware that sometimes (especially at BBQs), there can be too many people helping. If this is the case, we may have to decline your offer, but don’t be disheartened! With one a week, you can bet that there’ll be another time you can give us a hand.
