About Mudfest 2025
MUDfest 2025: A Festival of Student Creativity
MUDfest is the University of Melbourne’s very own student arts festival — a bold, biennial celebration of student creativity in all its forms. From theatre to film, music to visual arts, MUDfest is where new ideas come alive and students take centre stage.
Founded in 1990, MUDfest has grown into one of Australia’s largest student-run arts festivals. Every two years, it transforms campus spaces into vibrant venues showcasing original student-led work. It’s a space for experimentation, expression, and collaboration — whether you're debuting a play, exhibiting artwork, premiering a short film, or running a hands-on workshop.
2025 Theme: Refraction – One Self, Many Reflections
Like light through a prism, this year’s theme explores multiplicity — of self, of meaning, of identity. Whether personal, political or poetic, we’re inviting artists to bend the light and show us their many sides.
