Submission Guidelines — Short Film

KEY DATES

  • TASTINGS: TOGETHER 2024 EOI submissions are OPEN from 27 May 2024.
  • Submissions CLOSE 29 July 2024 at 11:59pm AEST.
  • Short Film Screenings will be held over 2 days, Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 August 2024.

SUBMITTED FILE CONDITION

  • Films must be original and produced in 2024.
  • Films can be of any genre, fiction, and non-fiction.
  • The whole films may be between 2 – 15mins in duration.
  • Films can be created on any device and must be submitted 16:9 as MPG, MPEG, MOV, AVI. WMV.
  • Please submit a short excerpt of your film, up to 1GB will be accepted. Selected submitters will be asked for screening-ready file.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Submissions are limited to current University of Melbourne students.
  • Films must be rated G or PG. Films with excessive violence, language or nudity will not be accepted.
  • One film entry per person (or group, if entering a group submission) will be accepted.
  • Films submitted in languages other than English must include English subtitles.

SUBMITTERS AGREE TO

  • Grant the non-exclusive rights to UMSU to launch their films in front of a live audience.
  • Grant the non-exclusive rights to UMSU to screen their films, or sections of them on the UMSU website and its social media platforms.
  • Submit screenshots and production stills of their film, if requested by UMSU.

UMSU CREATIVE ARTS DEPARTMENT AGREES TO

  • Undertake the setup and arrangement of the film screening venue and equipment.
  • Acknowledge the submitter as the creator of the work in publications in which the works are included.

BY SUBMITTING, YOU WARRANT THAT

  • You own or have the necessary license to grant UMSU an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty free right to use the film or part of the film.
  • Prior to entering the film, you have gained the consent of all identifiable persons featured in the film.
  • The film is your own original work.
  • Entries must not contain any material that is defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening or is otherwise unlawful. UMSU reserves the right to screen and reject submissions as it deems fit.
