Submission Guidelines — Photography

KEY DATES

  • TASTINGS: TOGETHER 2024 submissions are OPEN from 27 May 2024.
  • Submissions CLOSE 29 July 2024 at 11:59pm AEST.
  • Photography Exhibition runs from 20-22 August 2024.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Submissions are limited to current University of Melbourne students. This includes all participants of the submission.
  • One entry per person (or group, if entering a group submission) will be accepted. The entry can be an individual piece or a collection but must not exceed the maximum size detailed below.
  • Photos can be created on any device and submitted as a JPG file up to 20MB per file.
  • Physical entries must NOT exceed 80cm x 80cm square, recommend size is under A3. This includes frames and all equipment supplied to present the entry.

ARTISTS AGREE TO

  • Shortlisted artist will agree to print their own submissions.
  • Please note, if your work is an unframed photograph, UMSU Staff will pin through the edges of your print.
  • Bare the costs of any framing should the artists decide to exhibit framed photographs.
  • Any additional hanging materials (excluding pins) will be available to hire from UMSU Staff for the duration of the week.
  • Grant the non-exclusive rights to UMSU to use their artwork on the UMSU website and its social media platforms.
  • Work with UMSU and Creative Arts team to install the work at the exhibition space.

UMSU CREATIVE ARTS DEPARTMENT AGREES TO

  • Undertake the setup and arrangement of the exhibition.
  • Acknowledge the artist by displaying the artist’s name near the installed artwork.
  • Acknowledge the artist as the creator of the work in publications in which the works are included.

BY SUBMITTING, YOU WARRANT THAT

  • Prior to entering the submission, you have gained the consent of all identifiable persons featured in the submission.
  • The submission is your own original work.
  • Entries must not contain any material that is defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening or is otherwise unlawful. UMSU reserves the right to screen and reject submissions as it deems fit.
