Migration

The UMSU Legal Service does not provide legal advice on visas and migration law. We recommend contacting the following services for assistance with visa and migration enquiries.

You can find information about student visas, and contact the student visa team at the university, here.

For other visa and migration enquiries, we recommend contacting a registered migration agent. You can find a registered migration agent on the website of the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority.

You can also use the Law Institute of Victoria’s Legal Referral Service to access a free preliminary 30-minute appointment with a registered migration agent or lawyer. You can find out more about this service here.

500 and 485 visas

You can find information about 500 and 485 visas, including document checklists and guides, on the Department of Home Affairs website:

  • Document Checklist Tool
  • Subclass 500 - Student visa
  • Temporary graduate visa (Subclass 485) - Post-Study Work stream

The information on this website is not legal advice. It is legal information only. If you are a current University of Melbourne student who requires legal advice, please contact the UMSU Legal Service here.
