The Women's Room
The Women’s Room is a designated safe space for women and non-binary students. Located on the first floor of Union House, it is an autonomous place where women and non-binary students can feel comfortable and safe to be themselves without having to share the space with men or undergo male scrutiny. It provides a space for gals and enby pals to relax, talk to each other, collaborate, organise, discuss issues or read literature/brochures without embarrassment or self-censorship. It is a non-competitive and supportive space, as well as a great place to meet and get to know amazing women and non-binary students!
You can chill out here, study, rest, eat your lunch or join in a discussion. Facilities in the Women’s Room include free tea, tampons, pads, dams, lube and condoms, and access to couches, a fridge, a microwave and a computer. There is information on women’s health, services for women on and off campus, sexual and reproductive health, and fun stuff to get involved in. We have a large bookshelf full of wonderful women-centred books you can borrow.
Make sure you come and find the Women’s Room, because it’s here for you! But before you do, please read up on our safe space policy first.
