UMSU Sexual Harm Response Coordinators 

Provide support with making complaints to the university, reporting to the police, and appropriate referrals to therapeutic services.  

The Safer Community Program 

They provide support and advice to members of the university about inappropriate, concerning, or threatening behaviour. Their program is free and confidential. 

Speak Safely Portal 

An online, secure and confidential platform where students can seek support, record, or report sexual assault, harassment, and any other inappropriate behaviour at the University of Melbourne. 

Crisis support

Victorian Sexual Assault Crisis Line

A confidential, 24/7, free telephone crisis counselling service for people who have experienced recent or past sexual assault.

1800RESPECT 

A confidential, 24/7, free counselling service and helpline for people affected by domestic violence, family violence and/or sexual assault.

Community supports

13YARN

A free 24/7 crisis support line, run by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This line provides a culturally safe, non-judgmental, private and confidential space to yarn about any needs, worries or concerns.

Centre Against Sexual Assault (CASA) 

A free counselling and advocacy service for victim survivors of sexual assault.  

They also offer support through events following a sexual assault. For example, if a victim/survivor wishes to make a formal police report, CASA can provide a counsellor to assist them through that process.

For LGBTQIA+ people who have experienced relationship violence, family violence and sexual assault.
