Tastings 2026

What is Tastings?

Tastings provides a place for UniMelb students to develop and test new performance ideas in a supportive environment with like-minded peers. This year, Tastings will have 10 bite-sized theatrical performances made by students, for students. 💜🎭

Think of it as a “taste test” of bite size creativity where classic is just the starting point.

The 2026 Tastings theme is Classic.

Come see how students interpret this year's theme of Classic! Will they honour, reinvent... Or disrupt?

From the 20th of August to the 22nd, join us in the Guild Theatre, with Programme A on the 20th, Programme B on the 21st, and Programme A & B both on the 22nd.

A biennial event, Tastings celebrates student creativity across all forms of theatre and performance. Hosted by the UMSU Creative Arts Department with support from Union House Theatre, Tastings provides a place for students to develop and test new performance ideas in a supportive environment with like-minded peers.
This year, Tastings is returning to its roots: a vibrant showcase of student performing arts in all its forms. A mentoring and workshop program will be offered to support students who are successful in their application.

Acknowledgement
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land where we live, work, and learn as the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nations, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and also pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was and always will be, Aboriginal land. Colonisation is ongoing and its presence in art is very prevalent.
