With a living history that extends over 130 years, the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) is committed to providing quality experiences on campus for students, staff and visitors, from a wide variety of backgrounds. We are a vital part of the University of Melbourne, consistently ranked as Number 1 in Australia among the leading universities in the world.
UMSU holds a strong relationship with students on campus and communicates with them regularly, through rich content and experiences across web, mobile, events, competitions, social media, student magazines and merchandise. Through all our channels we are able to offer advertising and activation placements to brands and businesses who wish to connect with the student market.
In light of the emerging COVID-19 situation the University is implementing social distancing designed to support a broader campaign to manage the spread of COVID-19. Based on this advice, UMSU Events is suspending its scheduled events commencing 18 March, as a precautionary measure to help slow the spread of COVID-19, and play our small part in the global response to the spread of the virus. The suspension will remain in effect, at this stage. A decision on reinstatement of this program will be made in response to changes in the broader situation. UMSU will continue to follow expert health advice and will continue to make decisions about its activities which are in the best interests of the health, safety and wellbeing of the entire student community.
We are looking into other ways to boost promotions, sponsorship and advertising to students during this period of time, via social media, newsletter and in-kind goods.
