Students' Council

Students’ Council is the paramount governing body of the University of Melbourne Student Union. There are 15 General Representatives (plus 6 elected representatives for special constituencies – Queer, Indigenous, International, Postgraduate, Students of Colour and Students with Disabilities), all of whom are elected at the annual student elections in September. Notice of all meetings of Students’ Council will be posted on this page and all students are invited to attend, move motions, and take part in the governance of UMSU.

Notice of Upcoming Students' Council

The October Students’ Council is currently scheduled to be held on Thursday the 15th of October at 11:00 AM in the William MacMahon Ball Theatre, Old Arts.

Due to safety concerns, and upon receiving advice from University Security, I am writing to advise Students' Council 11(26) will be held online. Please find the zoom link for tomorrows meeting attached here.

To ensure that there is no confusion, signage and links to this meeting will be displayed at the William MacMahon Ball Theatre. I would encourage you to circulate the zoom link to anyone who would like to attend.

I understand this may be concerning or distressing to some people and would encourage anyone with concerns or questions to reach out the UMSU General Secretary or the UMSU President.
