This page provides information and resources on the management of disclosures, reports and complaints at UMSU.

There is information here on:

  • What to do if you want to report or disclose concerns or make a complaint at UMSU.
  • The process UMSU follows when it receives a report, disclosure or complaint.
  • Broadly how UMSU investigates reports, disclosures and complaints.
  • The possible outcomes if the investigation finds that a wrongdoing has been committed.
  • What information UMSU can share with parties to a complaint.

There are also a range of resources on this page which may assist those wanting to understand complaint handling options at UMSU.

There are a number of ways to report, disclose or complain about something at UMSU. If your concerns relate to sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, victimisation, bullying or other serious workplace misconduct, you may wish to discuss with an UMSU Contact Officer, or the Human Resources team who can give advice on the process for making a complaint, the options for support during the process, and what outcomes to expect.

You can read a plain language guide to the processes in Navigating Disclosures and Reporting Concerning Behaviour: a guide for University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) student representatives and staff.

You can access the UMSU complaints form here or use this QR code:

Alternatively, you can use one of these templates for making a complaint (you will need to save the pdf and email it):

If you need help with how to frame your complaint please download UMSU's Drafting a Complaint - a guide for complainants, or speak to a Contact Officer, or the Human Resources team.
